Amp'd Mobile to sell video content in Japan
Filed in archive Announcements on October 31, 2006
The Japanese love their mobile phones and services. But will they flock to mobile video that includes American film clips, music videos, and sports highlights. I don't know but Amp'd Mobile must think so.
Amp'd Mobile is backed by MTV and Universal Music. Today they announced that they will start selling entertainment to 20 million customers of Japan's 2nd largest carrier, KDDI.
I remain dubious to the whole television on cell phone business model. But if it can flourish, Japan would strike me as the place it should start.
