AT&T: we passed up the Tibetan Cable Co ...

Filed in archive IPTV by martino on May 17, 2007

and rapidly gaining on Mongolialinks

Last weeks article in the WSJ said it all:
"... U-verse comes as AT&T is finally gaining a little traction in its efforts to launch the long-delayed service. The company says it is now selling U-verse in 18 markets ... to about 2.8 million homes. But the company has only signed up roughly 20,000 subscribers, and some question whether the technology AT&T is buying from Microsoft Corp. for the Internet-based service will scale properly as millions of customers are eventually added.

Hmmm. Can I do the math? 20,000 subscribers, 18 markets, that is a blistering 1,000+ per market! At that rate, Comcast might have to worry in about 700 years.

OK, the cable MSO's don't have much to fear in 2007. But wait 'til next year (or the year after that, or ...)!
