Blu-ray DVD Player Marketshare Boosted by Playstation 3 Sales
The Blu-ray DVD format is starting to pull away from HD DVD in the DVD format wars. According to a recent article I read at Content Agenda, the Blu-ray Disc Association, reported that Blu-ray DVD hardware and software sales are edging close to the 3 million units sold mark.
Blu-ray DVD player sales are inflated by the fact that the Sony Playstation 3 includes a built-in Blu-ray DVD player. In the same respect HD DVD player sales have been padded by the sale of X-box 360 gaming machines with add-on DH DVD players.
Currently, the Blu-ray DVD software sales out-number HD DVD sales 2-1. Blu-ray DVD also leads in new DVD releases versus HD DVD.
