Digital TV transition STILL ON for Feb 17th!
Amazingly, the US House of Representitives did NOT pass the postponement of the DTV transition; so it is BACK on for Febuary the 17th, despite everyone expecting that it was set to go back 2 months. This is a huge concern as a massive six and a half million people are not ready for the switch, and the government funds to help have run dry.
What's going to happen?
There's going to be a lot of angry people, that's what.

There’s one question I’ve not heard addressed at all: WHY is the government making these converter box coupons available in the first place? I have my own theory but no one in charge has bothered to give us a reason. Why converter box coupons at all? Why not cell phone coupons or cable coupons or auto or house purchase coupons? Who made this decision to even go down this road? Now I hear another $600M+ is forthcoming for additional converter box coupons! If this is all for emergency preparedness (that’s my theory), what will happen to those people who will totally lose the viewing signal when digital broadcasting is in place. That’s right! This will occur because digital is a weaker signal, so if a station broadcast it’s analog signal say 100 miles and the new digital signal will only reach say 50 miles, then those folks who live say 75 miles out are going to be in the dark. So much for my emergency preparedness theory! Then I suppose the government will want to pay to move all those people closer to the digital signal. As usual, the politicians are in Washington while their thinking caps are back home!
