The February 2009 digital television transition deadline is getting closer than you may think. Many consumers can't afford, or haven't decided to switch over to HD televisions yet.
As a result, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have teamed up to provide consumers with online tools and resources to assist consumers with the upcoming transition to digital television. The two organizations are promoting a 'green' message to consumers that decide to keep their old analog televisions. They put together a FCC/EPA fact sheet which includes facts and tips on how to continue to use their existing analog television sets and how to dispose of them too.
The Consumer Electronics Association has a website located at myGreenElectronics.org, where consumers can find electronic recycling locations and information on "green" consumer electronic products.
