HDTV a Threat to Canadian Culture?
Filed in archive Announcements on December 8, 2006
this from Broadcasting & Cable:
The CBC reports that two University of Calgary professors believe the push to provide consumers with high-definition television is a threat to Canada's cultural sovereignty because the selection of programming is almost exclusively American.
The arguments are found in a new book called Canadian Television Today that is being released just as the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission will begin hearings on Monday to look at a number of issues facing Canadian broadcasters, including options for delivering digital television.
