It's 1984 all over again

Filed in archive Business Trends , Internet TV on March 19, 2007

If you want a preview of what the upcoming election cycle might look like, check out the YouTube video below. It pretends to be from the Obama campaign but that has been denied.

Some think the YouTube effect is only about how things are changing vis-a-vis existing TV shows. But that is not accurate. After you take away all the blatant piracy away from all video web site, what you are left with is something much more fascinating: a new distribution mechanism that anyone can leverage.

So, someone re-created Ridley Scott's famed Apple Computer TV commercial "1984," which premiered during the 1984 Super Bowl. That person/group likely required not much more than an idea, a little time and some software to mash up the original commercial with their anti-hillary spin. And then that same person/group created an audience instantly.
