MTV Networks goes mobile
We have to erect a statue in honor of the person who first figured out that people hesitate to pay over a $1 to purchase a song but will pay 4x that to purchase just a portion of that same song for a ring tone. Ahhhhh, you gotta love it.
Anyways, MTV Networks wants some of that action too. And games, and video. It has created a new unit to push the company into the market for mobile content.
According to mobile industry watcher Telephia, NBC Mobile News, Comedy Central, accuweather, CNN and E! among the top 12 most watched mobile video channels.
MTV wants to join that group which now publishes more than 600 clips and 30 hours of video per month in the United States. It also counts partnerships with about 70 international phone carriers.
