Semiconductor developer Amimon, has reached a deal with Sharp to offer a wireless HDTV link for the Sharp X-Series ultra-thin LCD TVs.

Amimon's WHDI technology enables high-definition video in-home networking applications to interact through a wireless connection. Amimon proclaims that WHDI technology will simplify the installation of Sharp's ultra-thin LCD TVs by eliminating the need for capable hookups between the LCD TV set and a separate tuner unit. The quality is supposed to be a good as an HDMI cable connection and can reach super fast connection speeds operating at ranges over 100 feet.

The Sharp's X-series models will come in 37-, 42- and 46-inch screen formats and will be as narrow as 3.44 cm. Models are already on sale in Japan but a US sales date was not available.
