Philips Debuts 3D television and predicts that they will be in homes in just a 'few' years. Based on a recent feature in the Herald Tribune, philips electronics NV gave debuted their research third-dimension television prototype, which doesn't require 3-D glasses, earlier this week. Early reports describe the 3D set as 'fuzzy around the edges' and resembling a holographic greeting card. But it seems that overall the results are striking and interesting enough to create curiosity.
Earlier prototypes featured by LG Electronics at CES 2006, were amazing but not much has been done to promote the benefits to consumers. Commercial versions of available 3D televisions are sold to mostly movie theaters and casinos.
The biggest market I see for the 3D television is the video gaming market. It would add totally different angle to gaming. What do you think? Would you get one? Do you see a practical application? Let us know.
