Revver shakes up its management team

Filed in archive Internet TV on December 21, 2006

During my recent use of Revver, I've sensed that the company is not hitting on all cylinders. And today I read in AdAge that the management team at Revver has been shaken up.

Steven Starr will remain CEO but his co-founders Ian Clarke and Oliver Luckett are leaving, along with several support staff, though a few are staying on in consulting roles. Hopefully, these changes will catch because I kind of like this little start up.

I recently saw Steven Starr at NYU during the Future of Television conference. He struck me as insightful about consumer generated video and I'm glad to see he remains.

"Additionally, three executives have joined the senior staff. Kevin Wells joins as chief operating officer; ... David Armitage, who has held stints at Dentsu, Y&R and TBWA/Chiat/Day ... is joining as senior VP-advertising sales, and Angela Gyetvan, a former corporate marketing executive with Four seasons Hotels and Resorts, has come in as VP-marketing."

One big reason I like Revver over YouTube is that it respects people who create original content. They actually share ad-revenue with the owners! The site attaches a one-frame clickable spot onto the tail of the video. It grabbed headlines for helping the creators of the "Extreme Diet Coke and Mentos Experiment" to earn $30,000 for their efforts.
