Before the start of summers, Sharp will start selling liquid crystal televisions which can show 3D images. In this manner it will join the ranks of Sony and Samsung to capture the growing 3D market. The 3D Aquos model from Sharp will be unveiled in May and launched before the summer shopping season.

Right now television makers are planning to capture the growing market for 3D TV to push up their profits as the prices of flat panel TV have fell down sharply and discount brands have been eating into the market share. Sharp states that its 3D LCD panels are brighter as compared to the existing 3D TVs available in the market and have solved the problem of right and left eyes images getting mixed. Viewers will be required to wear special glasses in this case.

The company is expecting 5 to 10% of its TV sales from 3D TV models in the current fiscal year.
