Sony, product manufacturer and entertainment content juggernaut, announced that they plan to release Hollywood studio releases to their Bravia LCD televisions via digital download.

According to a recent post on TimesOnline, Hancock, featuring Will Smith, will be the first film to be delivered over the internet. Incorporating Hancock, a Sony pictures release, is a perfect example of how a content and hardware owner can change the way consumers receive new releases. Sony announced plans to invest $17 billion into the technology to make this happen over the next three years.

How do you think the ability to download new releases to your television will do? Is this a service that you would be interested in or do you prefer the traditional movie theaterlinks experience? We would like to hear from you.
