For these past few years, there has been a question of how to distribute High definition programming: in one or two streams. With dual stream HD delivery, the distributor sends out two versions of a program, one in HD and one in SD.

But increasingling both networks and studios are embracing a new concept: just convert everything to a single HD stream.
It takes about 10 hours to ready an 8-minute cartoon for HD (eight hours of telecine work) while a 22-minute show can take up to 13 hours (with the majority of time dedicated to color correction and dirt and scratch removal.
This straight-forward approach means a company like Warner Bros. can readying its massive movie and TV library for HD distribution. Which is exactly what they and others are now doing.
