It's official! Blu-ray has won the HD DVD versus Blu-ray DVD 'Thrilla in Manila'! Toshiba is pulling out of the HD DVD, high-definition video disc market for good. This recent announcement ends the format war the company has been battling against rival Sony. Over the last several weeks, Tosiba's HD DVD format has suffered some considerable blows from the motion picture industry after several studios announced that they were producing retail digital video recordings exclusively in the Blu-ray DVD format "This was a very difficult decision to make ... but when we thought about the trouble we would cause to consumers and our partners, we decided it was not right for us to keep going with such a small presence," stated Toshiba Chief Executive Officer Atsutoshi Nishida in a recent Reuters News report..
