Ultra widescreen? It's coming!
Filed in archive HDTV on January 31, 2009

It's always been a gap in the market for those ultra movie buffs out there; a TV that shows them in their true format, without black borders.
You see, films don't tend to be shot at 16:9, but a much, much wider ratio, usually more like 21:9, and as such, have to be compressed to fit on our screens at home, filling them with those annoying black strips that are oh so common to us now.
Philips have introduced a set that has exactly this ratio, and you can watch a video of it here. It will, however, cost you 3 grand. That's rather a lot, don't you think?
