VWB's MediaReady 4000 Now Carried by CompUSA
Filed in archive Announcements on April 5, 2005
Set-top box vendor, Video Without Boundaries (VWB), says that its MediaReady 4000 Digital Media Center is now for sale in "select" CompUSA stores nationwide (note: CompUSA is one of the US's largest computer and electronics retailers).
The box offers a variety of features and services, including a DVD/CD player, a media jukebox, email, Internet surfing, karaoke, and gaming. Most notably, it will allow its end-users to participate in a soon-to-launch "grassroots," Internet-based VOD programming service: the service will allow amateur producers to create their own themed content channels (producers will actually use the box to upload content to their channels), which will be offered to MediaReady customers as part of a service called the Content Delivery Network. VWB is partnering on the service with embedded Linux middleware provider, CAC Media, a company in which VWB is the largest institutional equity shareholder.
