Beginning on May 26, 2008 Wal-Mart will start selling Blu-ray players under $300. Now the ability to enjoy high-definition viewing is within reach for most of us... This is a huge announcement since most current Blu-ray players are priced above $400. According to Pocket-lint, the Sony PlayStation 3 has the current cheapest Blu-ray disc player on the market starting at $399.

The player, a Magnavox NB500MG9, will be Profile 1.1 with picture-in-picture functionality. The same product will be manufactured under Best Buy's store brand Insignia, but it will not be available until July. It is expected to be priced at around $350 which will still make it more expensive than the Wal Mart version.

Now all we need is a chep 1080p HD television to go with it. Remember! Your Blu-ray player is only as good as the high definition television that you use to view it. To get the true benefits of Blu-ray you should have an HD television that can handle 1080 dpi progressive scan capabilities. So, will you head to 'Wally World' to get one? Let us know.
