Why I Won’t Go Digital Until I Have To

Chances are, if you read this blog, you know about the impending switchover to digital TV signals in the United States. In fact, the last article covered the fact that the West and Midwest would be affected by this changeover. I am perhaps in the minority, but I personally don't care about this switchover.
Unlike many Americans, who spend over a hundred dollars a month on cable or satellite service, I subscribe to the lowest possible service with Comcast-Limited Basic. It gives me Broadcast Channels for $15 a month. We really don't watch that much TV, nor do we want to spend our money on television.
All of the channels in Limited Basic are analog, and even when they go 100% digital, the cable companies have been told by the FCC they will continue sending analog television signals to subscribers until 2012! Our televisions-purchased in the early 1990s-still work quite well. And as long as we have cable, the FCC has given us a reason to keep running them just a little longer.
Quite frankly, while the HD picture is nice-when you have HD programming-it doesn't excite me all that much. We're going to wait as long as we possibly can to buy an HD set. Hopefully by then, the prices will be much cheaper.
Are you like me and not going HDTV? What's holding you back? Leave your feedback in the comments.
