In my day job, I write and edit material for a customer support website. I've written two books on a network security product and blog daily on many different subjects, including mobile technology, gadgets, and VoIP. My primary goal in my writing is to make sense of these and other complex topics. I live in Gig Harbor, WA, USA with my wife and two beautiful children. They keep me grounded and focused on the important things in life, even if I spend way too much time blogging! Contact me directly at: dwelch AT phoneboy DOT com

The last significant change in television viewing habits occurred when people no longer were bound to watching just the 'big three' broadcast networks and began including hundreds of niche cable networks.
Today, another titanic shift is occurring and it is caused by two specific technologies: IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) and VOD (Video on Demand). What makes this interesting is that the balance of power is shifting from the network scheduleres into the hands of people.
This shift will have huge ramifications on those that make content for us to watch, those who distribute the content, and the viewer. It also will lead to another round of winners and losers for investors and venture capitalists. At this blog, I will try to bring news about digital television to you and analyze what it might mean. Seperating the hype of the press release from the reality of sustainable business.
